The Karakoram Nomad is a real all-rounder. The chassis is made of an alloy with aluminum, which is mainly used in the aerospace industry. All Karakorum bindings today have an open chassis, i.e. excess material has been completely eliminated. This not only saves weight, but also creates a more natural flex under the binding. The brand new C4 highback made of Carbon Nyolite gives the rider a lot of response with the necessary freedom of movement. This allows you to attack the terrain and still maintain a “surfy” and calm feeling in varied terrain.
Karakoram has managed to make the Nomad binding lighter again, slowly dropping to 600gr. The high sidewalls of the chassis provide excellent grip when touring, which is nice in the difficult moments. Whether you want to roam the mountains or climb that long-coveted peak, the robust and lightweight Nomad will get you there with ease.

The Comfort
This binding is equipped with AirPod Ankle and AirForm Toe Straps. The Air-Pod offers just as much comfort as the AirForm, only 30gr. lighter. Both straps fit well around the boot and therefore give the rider a lot of support and response.
The Karakoram interface uses the characteristic lever on the heelcup, which allows the binding to be released from the interface. The Dual Ride-Stride Forward Lean Adjuster on the highback can be easily rotated by 90° or 180°. This makes it possible to lean forward by -8° when touring and between 0° and 22° when boarding. This binding from the “Alpine” series is equipped with a dual speed riser and is therefore completely ready for use.

Personally, I always found a Karakoram binding too fiddly to convert. Because of the way you push the binding down into the interface, all the snow has to be cleared away beforehand.
Now the guys at Karakoram have probably realized this and given me the new 3.0 system to test at CTM 2024. Once the binding is mounted or converted, it performs perfectly, of course, but then so do the others :)
But now to the innovation. The 3.0 is tidier and has more play and tolerance. You are no longer annoyed by every snow crystal when converting. Of course, the basic principle is the same as always. But it is a step in the right direction towards better conversion - that much is clear. So, if Karakoram, then 3.0 :) Simon
