The Backwoods splitboard features an iconic tapered shape for float and agility,
a< high-tech, lightweight Paulownia core for snap and response, and a durable polyamide topsheet for added durability.
This is a high-performance Ferrari of splitboards and our top choice for backcountry riders who want top performance
while surfing in deep snow, in the trees and in wide, open bowls.
If this sounds like you, we recommend this splitboard as your everyday ride.
The Backwoods is a powder and freeride hybrid that favors trees, powder and steeps.
Like most powder boards, the Backwoods has a very wide nose and a tapered tail, but it differs in its medium-stiff flex,
our freeride camber-dominated profile and only 10 mm setback.
This combination makes the board maneuverable in trees and fast in deep snow.
A strong core of poplar and bamboo stringers ensures that the board remains flexible and surfy,
while carbon stringers from tip to tail give the board a little more pop.
The castor-based, robust nylon topsheet helps repel snow and provides added durability,
; while the sintered 4001 base, in a minimalist black design, ensures top speed and seamless repairs.

Every season, I am contacted by about 3-5 companies asking if I would like to sell their splitboards. With some, I can already reject after a short initial research, and with some after the first tests. However, my good feeling was rewarded with Cole Karchner from Weston, and the practical test uncovered a real treasure. Weston had contacted me and didn't even tell me their BEST OF. They came to us with a simple request. We only realized on the mountain that they are masters of multi-radial camber rocker construction and lightweight construction. Quote from team member Stephan:
“Hey, how come we haven't met them before !!!”
Durability:
You notice it immediately when you pick up the shape. It is super light - but still TOPP workmanship. No filigree layers or finishes of the deck sheet, which sometimes look unattractive. A good pop in the bending test.
