Tech11
60m search strip width Bandwith
The search strip width corresponds to the area “scanned” by the searching device. The larger the search strip width, the greater the area covered by the device. This feature is often used to compare beacon Performance

Tech2
Autotest
When turning on your device it conducts an auto-check. This verifies battery levels, that the device is functioning properly, and signals any problems.

Tech3
Group check
The group-check function allows you to easily verify if each member of your group has their beacon in transmit mode. The group-check function enables the device to conduct a fine search, allowing you to individually check the members of your group at a one-meter distance.

Tech4
Revert-to-transmit
During a search, in the event of a secondary avalanche, the revert-to-transmit feature allows the device to automatically switch back to transmit mode. This switch is activated either by a timer after a certain period of time of user inactivity, or by a motion detector after a certain amount of time where the device has not moved. Configure these timeframes in your beacon’s settings menu.

Tech5
Interference Management
Interference management maximizes the device’s performance in search mode in an environment “overrun” by electromagnetic interference. To accomplish this, the device in search mode automatically reduces the bandwidth and ignores all other frequencies to focus solely on the beacon being tracked. This feature can be deactivated by the user.

Tech6
Marking function
Interference management maximizes the device’s performance in search mode in an environment “overrun” by electromagnetic interference. To accomplish this, the device in search mode automatically reduces the bandwidth and ignores all other frequencies to focus solely on the beacon being tracked. This feature can be deactivated by the user.

Tech7
Standby mode
A device in standby mode is neither searching nor transmitting. This function allows the user to work the avalanche without their device interfering with the ongoing search. In the event of a secondary avalanche, the revert-to- transmit function automatically switches the device back to transmit mode.

Tech8
Scrolling function
The scrolling function allows you to more efficiently organize rescue operations by selecting a specific victim to track and dividing search responsibilities between rescuers. Although the victim’s identity is not displayed, a list of victims is generated in order of proximity, allowing you to select a victim based on their distance from you.

Tech9
Bluetooth Technology range
The new companion to BT range Avalanche transceivers. Configure your avalanche transceiver directly from your smartphone, thanks to the ARVA app. The configuration includes, for example, the choice of fine search distance or standby time. Intuitive, fast and easy to use, setting up your device is child’s play.

The question about the airbag!

Since the 1990s, I have only gone on a ski tour with an airbag backpack. At that time, you really had to want it with a very high weight. I personally picked up my first 40L backpack from Peter Aschauer (ABS) in Pasing. It weighed 8kg empty!
A lot has happened since then. Weight and technology have progressed. For about 5 years I have been going on ski tours with an ARVA and I am very enthusiastic about it.

  • It is super light
  • A great backpack, with technical super solutions from mountaineers for mountaineers
  • Very reliable to trigger
  • made in France!
  • no charging of batteries - always works!

If an ABS is an ARVA - that's my opinion and I will only go to the mountain with an airbag backpack for the next 20 years.

But I can fully understand why someone might be put off by the extra weight of around 1.5 kg compared to a normal backpack. Having an airbag with you is an OPTION. But having an avalanche transceiver and knowing how to use it 100% is a MUST.
