1338g - The TREK boot was developed for better touring characteristics without compromising on riding performance. It uses the Hike & Ride Boa® in conjunction with a movable cuff for an easier ascent. The MTN GOAT outsole is made from more sustainable materials and offers excellent traction, grip and reactivity for true freeride performance.
Touring
A moveable cuff with a combination of traditional lacing and our patented Hike & Ride Boa® technology ensures that the shoe performs equally well uphill and downhill.
Impact resistance
Our MTN GOAT outsole gives the shoe plenty of step resistance, reactivity and support thanks to Salomon's Contagrip® W and many sustainable materials.
Comfort
The TREK is built on our comfortable FUZE SURGE midsole with sustainable materials. The thermoformable DRIVE liner ensures comfort all season long.

IMPORTANT:
In a good NEW splitboard boot, your feet fit snugly without causing pain.
The boot should fit snugly against your feet and toes.
With each tour it becomes larger, duch the LINER material and abrasion.
So if you buy it comfortably too big, you will quickly have problems.

The Softboot Trek from Salomon is a shoe designed specifically for splitboards, which meets the requirements of freeriders and touring skiers. The shoe is made of high quality materials that provide durability and comfort.
The main feature of the Trek is its high flexibility, which allows the rider to move more freely in the climb. The sole of the shoe is made of high quality rubber and provides excellent grip on snow and ice. The insole of the shoe is made of EVA foam, which provides additional cushioning and shock absorption.
The Trek features a special lacing technology called the Boa Lacing System. This lacing technology allows the rider to quickly and easily adjust the shoe to achieve a perfect fit. With a simple turn of the knob, the tension of the lacing can be easily increased or decreased. The special thing is that you achieve another "step" in the ascent, because the boot can be opened further, similar to a hard boot, without losing fit in the lower foot area. To do this, the boa is opened completely and similar to a ski touring boot, the top strap is opened.
The lining of the Trek is made of breathable mesh material, which provides good air circulation in the shoe and wicks away moisture. This prevents sweat and moisture from accumulating in the shoe, which can lead to unpleasant odor and blisters.
Overall, the Softboot Trek from Salomon is an excellent shoe for splitboarders who want high flexibility, comfort and performance. It offers excellent grip on rough terrain and is easy to adjust for a perfect fit. By design, it has slightly more volume than other soft boots and offers significantly more lateral support, as it has been reinforced here ( similar to a hard shell boot ). The more material makes in sum the weight a little higher. However, it is still not as high as that of the crampon resistant soft boots, which have, among other things, a steel sole in the boat. All our boots are tested for basket crampons and stiff enough in the sole, even without steel sole. The developers of Salomon have taken the ski touring boat as a model. But similar to a ski touring boat is then also required at the summit more handling on the boat to bring him into the downhill mode. The touring pants must necessarily be pulled over the boat to adjust everything.
When I am on tour with ski tourers and compare the times of the conversion at the summit, then I notice that it is 1:1 with ski. As a ski tourer I have the skins (like a splitboarder) and then additionally the boots to arrange. This time is omitted if I take as a splitboarder, for example, a soft boot, because I use with the same lacing uphill as downhill.
My conclusion: a great approach who wants max comfort and freedom of movement in the ascent and very close to the hardboot in the ascent. Flex in the descent kan be freely scaled and corresponds to medium.
The price for this, about 150g higher weight per foot.
